  • Today is my sister's birthday

    pic of pic (Small)

Today is my sister's birthday.   I won't put a number on it or she might not like that so much.    She lives by the bay and the beach.      I found this poem and mounted it with a photo of the sunrise on her beach.   She liked it so much, she took a photo of it.   I know the print is too small to read, but Xanga wouldn't accept a bigger photo so here is the text of the poem.

If once you have slept on an Island"

If once you have slept on an Island,
    You’ll never be quite the same;
You may look as you looked
And go by the same old name
You may hustle about in street and shop
You may sit at home and sew,
But you’ll see blue water and wheeling gulls
    Wherever your feet may go,
You may chat with neighbors of this and that
And close to the fire keep,
But you’ll hear ship whistle and lighthouse bell
And tides beat through your sleep,
And you won’t know why and you can’t say how
Such a change upon you came,
But once you have slept on an island
You’ll never be quite the same !

Believe me, I know the feeling too.  Happy Birthday, Sis.
